As soon as the ballots were counted on November 8, Team Hyde Park swung into action, beginning to reach out to town and county officials, interviewing consultants, and putting the pieces in place so that we can hit the ground running on January 1.  Here’s a sampling of where we’ve been:

Met with our transition team of former Board Members and Supervisors.

Attended Supervisor and Mayors Meeting featuring Marc Molinaro.

Met with John Copolla, Chamber of Commerce President to discuss ways to collaborate.

Met with Sandy Zimmerman’s team to discuss “Oasis – A Spa for the Mind at the Club at Hyde Park” and receive an update on proposed senior development.

Met with the Media Committee about the town’s broadcast, website and IT functions and needs.

Met or talked by phone with constituents about specific water problems in all Wards.

Interviewed attorney and engineering firms and negotiated contracts.

Met with Donna McGrogan to discuss procedures and ways to increase dialogue and efficiency between Supervisor’s Office and Town Clerk’s Office.

Met with Dutchess County Water and Wastewater Authority to discuss potential for decentralized sewer, new water districts, and how to secure a position on the list to receive state/federal aid.

Attended the Northern Dutchess Alliance December meeting and toured the innovative wastewater treatment facility at Omega Institute.

Attended Pace University Conference “Sustainable Development in Tough Economic Times”.

Met with Auditors from O’Connor, Davies, Muns & Dobbins and reviewed the 2009 audit prepared for Hyde Park.

Received update on 2010 Audit  – not completed yet due to outstanding material items.

Phone conferenced with Sedore and Company who has provided accounting services to the town on an as needed basis for $90 – $130 per hour to discuss state of town’s finances and bookkeeping needs.  Sedore recommends an additional full time person in the accounting department.

Met with Dutchess County Civil Service to review rules and gain understanding of civil service law.

Met with Highway Superintendent to receive update on bonds, highway fund, budget, road repair strategies, flooding and long-term capital plans.  Met with Town Engineer Pete Setaro and Highway Superintendent Doyle to discuss status of Hurricane Irene damage, repairs to specific roads and drainage issues in all wards.

Recruited new members for Shade Tree Commission and Conservation Advisory Council.

Compiled a list of interested volunteers for committees and boards.  Interviewed candidates.

Met with the CAC to discuss organization and plans for the new year.

Met with citizens to discuss plans to create the “2012 Happy Birthday Hyde Park Committee”.

Explored with Comptroller and Human Resources the needs of the accounting department and the value of a Traffic Prosecutor.

Partipated in Association of Towns Webinar for newly elected Town Officials and researched roles and responsibilities of our offices.

Met with the Fire Chiefs of the Roosevelt and Fairview Fire Departments to review Hyde Park’s Disaster Plan and to hear suggested improvements.

Talked with the Town of Poughkeepsie Supervisor Elect Todd Tancredi about cost saving measures within our towns and the possibility of shared services.

Attended Town Board meetings, resarched Comprehensive Plan regarding rezoning of former police station and Greentree area zoning.

Met with employees at Town Hall.

Met with Zoning Admin about new floodplain map and legislative requirements and sought information from outside sources (Cooperative Extension, DEC).

Met with Chief Broe, Lieutenant Benson and attended the ribbon cutting of new Police Station, toured the station and ascertained plans for move.
